Great Harwood Town 5 Stafford Rangers 7
Boring, boring Harwood! The Reds were having a little bit of trouble keeping the Rangers forwards at bay and by half time were 6-1 down. Mr. Cummings, the manager, had a few words with the chaps at the interval but it didn’t seem to work as within a few minutes it was 7-1. It was quite probable that the brave home players didn’t fancy getting injured as two weeks later Rotherham were the visitors in the F.A. Cup. Maybe it was all a cunning (Cummings) plan to lull their opponents into a false sense of security, for a fantastic period of play saw Harwood score four goals in just fifteen minutes and the last ten minutes saw Stafford hanging on desperately as shots rained in on their goal.

The Chairman Derrick Keighley wrote in his programme notes that he would like supporters to send him suggestions for a nickname for the club-does anyone know when we got our present nickname and who was behind it?
