The Robins finished the season in a poor 15th place from 18 teams in the North West Counties 2nd Division although they would have been saved from relegation had they finished any lower. At the end of the season the League was reduced from three divisions to two due to many clubs being unable to meet the NWCL criteria. Indeed Harwood themselves had come close to quitting before the campaign began due to lack of help in running the club.

The dreadful goals tally of just 36 equalled the club’s worst ever from three years earlier although leading scorer Chris Ashcroft was the Bass North West Counties player of the month for November.
Tony Nuttall made his debut in goal in the Boxing Day clash with Lancaster City-and promptly scored!
It was manager Len Hall’s first season in charge. He was a former committee member and was involved with the club right until the very end in 2005.

In November John Boast was appointed the new Chairman and Peter Fisken was appointed secretary.
The 1st Division title was won by Stalybridge Celtic the 3rd Division by Atherton Collieries and Harwood’s Division by Droylsden making our 3-2 win there our best result of the season. Colne Dynamos won the League Cup and were also promoted in 2nd place going on to take the 1st Division Championship the following year.

Our full League record was;

P W D L F A PTS
34 9 8 17 36 59 24

(2 points deducted for breach of League rules) The Showground was inspected in October and the following problems were cited.
* A toilet in the visitor’s dressing room was cracked.
* The referee’s changing room had no shower curtain.
* One end of the pitch was not fenced off.
