Season 2003-04

DAVID SHARPLES-Assistant manager/Midfield-Dave is now in his third spell at the club, having re-signed towards the end of last season. In his youth he was one of the best midfielder players in non-league football and on his rare appearances this season he has showed that he still has the quality to turn a game. Previous clubs –Blackburn Rovers, Morecambe, Lancaster, Accrington Stanley, Clitheroe, Darwen, Chorley, etc. etc. etc.

CHRIS HESLOP-Forward-Chris has just turned 18 and is one of the most exciting forwards we’ve seen here for many years. Greta left foot, great right, and superb in the air. A Clitheroe lad whose previous club was Bury.

MATT DERBYSHIRE-Forward-16 year-old Matt is another of our brilliant youngsters who has broken into the first team this season. Very quick, has a cracking shot, and is destined for higher things.

DARYL SLOANE-Goalkeeper-Daryl is one of two great goalkeepers at the club and his performances this season have been superb. An excellent shot stopper, good on crosses and organises his defence well. Previous clubs include Accrington Stanley, Rossendale United, Ramsbottom United, Kendal, Bacup Borough, Maine Road and Castleton Gabriels.

RYAN PARR-Central Defender-Another player in his first season here, he was previously with Burnley, Bury and Accrington. Dominant in the air and has one of the hardest shots in the league.

NEIL BARON-Central defender-Neil is in his 2nd spell at the club having previously played for several seasons at Clitheroe where he was part of the squad which reached Wembley in the FA Vase. Has often been thrown into the attack when a ‘physical’ presence is needed.

PAUL DEMAINE-Midfield-Picked up from local football. ‘Shanzy’ is a powerful midfielder who links up play well. He is always willing to attack and is an excellent box to box player.

JAMES COONAN-Midfield-Joined from Bamber Bridge a couple of years ago. A very fit player who can also play in defence. ‘Cooney’ is hard in the tackle and good in the air.

PAUL MASHITER-Forward-Formerly at Feniscowles, Kirkham & Wesham and Fulwood Amateurs from where he was signed. Paul has had no problem moving up a level to the NWCL and his electric pace is proving too much for many a defender.

JOHN EASTHAM-Centre-Forward-Previously at Rossendale United and Clitheroe, John signed at the beginning of the season and quickly became a fans favourite. Two good feet and great in the air, ‘Easty is one of the best finishers in the NWCL

ANTHONY GREEN-Right Back-Signed for The Robins in the spring of 2003 and his arrival co-incided with a great run of nine games without defeat. We’ve yet to see an opposing winger make a cross from the left wing.

ADIE PRESTIGE-Midfield-Switched form full back for the last couple of months of last season with devastating effect and some magnificent performances helped The Robins to 6th place. A human dynamo and the Garry Flitcroft of the team.

ANDY TAYLOR-Midfield/Left Back-Another player who re-joined the club from Clitheroe last season. Almost an ever present last term and the kind of man that you’d like in the trenches with you. Always gives 100%, strong, skilful and vital to the team.

JAMES DEAN-Forward/Defender-Although James played for the youth team as a forward, he was thrust into the defence towards the end of last season due to a mini crisis. Some great performances helped us to go hurtling up the table.
