This section of the web-site features players, officials and supporters of GHTFC.
18 year-old Liam weighs in at 5’ 10” and 13 stones and is enjoying his first season at the club. In my opinion, and that of many other supporters, he’s been the player of the season so far after playing consistently well for the team even when the results were going badly. He not surprisingly describes himself as a utility player and lists his positions as centre back, right back, left back, right midfield, left midfield, centre midfield and centre forward. Apart from Eastham and Mashiter, Liam is also the club’s leading goals corer with five League strikes despite only playing a handful of games up front. Regular supporters who travel to away games will have been delighted with the great goal that he scored at Alsager but even better that that was the superb volley at Atherton LR which surely has to be the goal of the season.
Liam was signed from Chorley reserves, which is his only previous club, and he currently attends Runshaw College in the town. In fact, he describes himself as a ‘tax-dodging’ student who’ll be going to Edinburgh University next year to study Podiatry, which will be a huge blow to GHTFC. By the way, that word’s not even in my dictionary but he assures me that it’s to do with chiropody.
The best moments so far of his short career was last season’s treble, achieved with Lammack under-17’s, and the step up in football when he signed for us at the beginning of the current campaign.
The worst moment was when he tore ligaments a year ago, an injury which is still on-going.
He lives at home with his parents Gillian, who looks so young and pretty that people think that she’s his girlfriend when they’re out together, and his dad Mark, who’s obviously passed on his handsome features to the lucky Liam.
His ‘likes’ are listed as winning, chocolate and Carlsberg, and his dislikes are losers and people without passion. Away from football, he also enjoys squash and running.
Congratulations on a terrific season so far Liam and let’s hope your outstanding performances can inspire the Robins to safety.
