Town draw a blank despite dominating

GREAT HARWOOD TOWN had to be content with a point from their second goalless draw with Colne in little more than two weeks despite dominating Wednesday’s match at the Showground for long periods.
Town had the best of their scoring chances, too, although their line-up was severely depleted by the absence of Pete O’Brien, Brian Moran, Steve Benko and Chris Ashcroft because of suspension.
The best chance fell to midfielder Brian Foy 15 minutes from time when he directed an impressive lob over the Colne goalkeeper only for the ball to hit the post.
A minute later, Foy had another opportunity, but he shot narrowly wide of the target.
And two minutes from time, just to crown Harwood’s evening of disappointment, Eric Geldard, their recent recruit from Clitheroe, had the ball in the back of the net only for the effort to be disallowed for offside.

Harwood’s line-up:
Mottershead, Vercoe, Paul Brown, Martin, Aston, Blackburn, Foy, Tomlinson, Bennett, Walker, Geldard. Sub: P. Brown
